Design Statement

The destination I chose for the midterm is Ba Sing Se, a city depicted in Avatar: The Last Airbender. I felt the city itself has a really good story to go a long with it and so many layers physical and literal that I could put in the destination website. The city itself having a history, governmnet, culture, specific layout to it, and various locations with information about them.

The font thats been chosen is one that goes along well with the aesthetic of the city. The universe it is set in is one without technology and the font used, especially for the headings if one that gives a handwritten look to it. I did a less handwritten look for the paragraphs because I still wanted large amounts of text to be legible. The paragraph font still being san-serif to give it a more rounded look and less mechanical, but still not fully home made looking. The color pallete used for the page applied very well to the destination. The city is located within the Earth Kingdom meaning the people living there oftern wear neutral colors, including brown, tan, yellow, etc. They always include green within the pallete as well it is the pop of color added to everything whether is be clothes, architercture, or decor. I felt adding the pallete to the website would be just as neccesary.

The buttons being used throughout the website are the five tabs that remain at the top of the page across all pages. I feel consistency is highly important in website that is being used by a consumer so that they are always able to find what they are looking for on a website. Making sure that all the tabs works is another essential detail when making a website like this, or even any website really. The buttons are easy to read and identifiable on the page.
